Corporate Line:
Lucy Woodward has blended a variety of influences – blue-eyed soul, rock, pop – into a style that’s all her own. “WHILE YOU CAN,” her Atlantic debut – produced by John Shanks (the Corrs, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks) and Kevin Kadish – marries Woodward’s strong and sexy vocals with a delightfully melodic modern sound.
The Good:
Good luck.
The Middle:
“Dumb Girls” – Tries so hard to be a pop hit song but comes off as pretty timid.
“Blindsided” – You’ve heard these sorts of pop songs a million times before.
“What’s Good For Me” – Some highs and lows and the track starts to rock during the hook and that helps.
The Bad:
“Trouble With Me” – The trouble is these tracks have no heart and no soul.
“Is This Hollywood” – This is not pretty.
“Always Something” – Painful.
Frankly: The same old boring pop. When will labels learn that pretty girl doesn’t automatically equal success?
