Charlie Wilson’s previous musical life was with his brothers as a member of The Gap Band. Now, as the album title indicates, he’s Bridging The Gap from his past to his present.
Wilson has a silky smooth voice. “Absolutely” has a melody that’s like satin sheets. “Another Man” continues to push melodic bliss. Tracks like “Would You Mind” may not be comfortable at a high school dance, but they can certainly get you up.
The slow jams aren’t left behind. Examples are “Without You” and the surprising ballad “Big Pimpin’” with guests Snoop & Nate Dogg. My personal favorite is the soulful “For Your Love”.
Charlie Wilson has a voice that can bring you to your knees. It’s bliss and tears. His melodies spark emotions that keep the entire album tight throughout. From beginning to end, you’ll enjoy Bridging The Gap.
