Weston has been around for ten years. I just found that out. When you hear them play, theyre so sharp you immediately realize they have great chemistry.
“I Just Quit Rock & Roll” is some sweet and simple pop rock. The next track takes a whole other direction as Weston roars through “To Some Im A Genius”. Another stroke is “Kiss Like An Angel”. Its almost, shall I say, a love song.
“Radio” is carefree and flows like the wind. It zips around through the atmosphere like a hydrogen atom. “Liz Phair” is an overt diatribe that finds singer James Synder gushing about dreaming of Liz Phair. They make up for their obsessive behavior with the soothing balm of “My Favourite High”. Like a spell, “You Haunt Me” found many rotations in my head.
They leave you with a bit of Partridge Family flavor on the irresistibly sticky “Volume Hater”. Ive said it once, maybe twice, but music doesnt have to come from some big hotshot record label to be good. Weston is still a quality group, and just because they are on an indie label doesnt mean a thing. I guarantee Weston would give your factory made rock groups a run for their money.
