The Wiseguys

A little something you can’t resist…

The Wiseguys unleash their second chapter of dancefloor moves and head-nodding grooves. Produced by Wall Of Sound’s resident hip-hop nut and scratch magician, Theo Keating aka DJ Touch, ‘The Antidote’ has something for everyone. A fresh unique mix of dancefloor dynamite and straight-up hip hop delights, these fifteen tracks of beat sophistication are simply off the hook.

To name just three: the stone classic ‘Ooh La La’ , whose funky easy-listening break fest has burned up dancefloors across the summer and for many is WOS’s coolest track to date, the thundering new one ‘Start The Commotion’ and the Manumission single ‘Cowboy 78, it is plain to hear ‘The Antidote’ is perfectly plugged into the dynamics of the dancefloor. For anyone who has been lucky enough to hear Touch spin, this will come as little surprise. A DJ of electric natural talent, this is someone who knows what it takes to move the floor. Touch is the Propellerheads tour DJ, a one time monthly resident at the Boutique in Brighton and has spun all over the world (Italy/Iceland/ Ibiza/Australia/US). Touch is widely regarded as THE DJ to watch – mix tapes available on request for those who want to be seriously impressed. ‘The Antidote’ serves the needs of the dancefloor with a smile and a blistering array of chunky delights.

Like the debut, ’96’s ‘Executive Suite’ longplayer, there are many sides to The Wiseguys magic. One of the longest serving Wall Of Sound artists, signing to the label after a spell on Blackmarket records, The Wiseguys were originally a duo. Wiseguy number 2 left last year to pursue a new career in the background of the discobeaters Bronx Dogs, leaving Theo to keep the name, pick up where he left off and to turn it out on a solo tip. Business as usual. At the core of The Wiseguys is a love of hip hop, it’s the dynamo that drives their musical machine. Touch has been a ‘hip hop freak’ from day one and has worked with Sense Live and his crew in New York for years, recording all his rap tracks over there. Continuing the partnership that began with ‘Executive Suite’, Sense Live and Season now lay down the rhymes on ‘The Antidote’ , supplying a slice of The Bronx to ‘Who The Hell?’, ‘Experience’, ‘The Grabbing Hands’ and ‘Production’. Taking the album to another b-boy dimension… Receiving props from both the hip hop and breezeblock crews, Touch stands alone as a producer with the talent and the vision to unite what are usually disparate strands of today’s musical spectrum. Extending his talents to take in graffiti (producing the critically acclaimed artwork for the ‘Best Of Electro’ album on Streetsounds, and also for ‘Classic Hip Hop Mastercuts), ‘The Antidote’ is testament to Touch’s exhilarating talents.
