Artist: The Allman Brothers Band
Title: Hittin’ The Note
Label: Sanctuary
Rating: 7.5/10

Corporate Line: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees and Grammy winning music legends, Sanctuary Records is proud to present the first Allman Brothers Band studio record in 9 years.

The Good: “Firing Line” – Comes out firing as Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes bring the licks. The Allman’s sound rejuvenated.
“High Cost Of Living” and “Desdemona” – Fans who have seen them live have probably heard this. Greg Allman’s voice sounds magnificent.
“Old Before My Time” – A stand out track.
“Maydell” – The guitar licks are nasty. This is what is missing in rock today.
“Heart Of Stone” – A classic track you’d swear was in your ears for decades.
“Old Friend” – The song is beyond words. The beat will get your toes tapping and the guitar will make you believe in music again as Greg’s voice breaks your heart.

The Bad: Whatever.

Frankly: The Allman Brothers Band has been playing these tracks live for sometimes and they couldn’t sound tighter. It’s the sort of heart, soul and precision that the kids could learn from. Everyone has their opinions and it’s a shame to not have Duane or Dickey Betts but I think we can still all agree; long live the Allman Brothers Band.
