Dylan’s boy is back with his pop rock crew, the Wallflowers. If you are familiar with them, you know they bring this sort of punch-drunk rock with melodies that sit on a cloud pondering whether to come down to earth or work a little harder and make their way to heavenly status.
If you wait long enough, you realize nothing is really going to leap out at you. You just have to sit there and absorb Breach and make your own little party. “Sleepwalker” extends its hand, ready to take hold without fully grasping it. Jakob Dylan does his best to represent his DNA and daddy on “I’ve Been Delivered”. I’ve got to give it to him; he really pulls it off. “Witness” tells us “It’s your birthday/ no one cares.” How sad is reality? Dylan has no problem airing it out. Further into the atmosphere is my favorite track, “Morning Train”, with its mix of hooky clap track chilling you.
The Wallflowers go out on a high note as Dylan frolics in the “Bird Cage”. I’m surprised to see them go out with a bang. Breach is a treat.
