Amy Winehouse charged with assault

Amy Winehouse was charged Wednesday with an assault at a theater last week, said Thames Valley police.

Winehouse, 26, was charged under the name Amy Civil with a “public order offense and common assault,” authorities said in a news release. Winehouse was divorced from her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, earlier this year.

Winehouse voluntarily went to the police station with her attorney on Wednesday and was arrested. Winehouse is scheduled to appear in court on January 20.
