Velvet Belly’s history dates back to Kristiansand in 1989, a period when the three gentlemen Sundgot, Aanesen and Rasmussen were searching for a female voice to accompany their little combo. This appeared in the magnificent voice of Anne Marie Almesdal, who paradoxically proved to be the right one they were looking for, by not sounding like the vocal references they had imagined. The band who took their name from the repertoire of the 4AD-band, This Mortal Coil, started their search for a musical sound where all their personalities and ideas form a common expression.
