It’s true in her roles as Spice Girl, author, fashion leader, television personality, stage star, philanthropist and mom. It’s been her driving force from her days growing up in Leeds, England through her years in one of the defining pop sensations of the last couple of decades through such ventures as becoming a fan favorite on – and nearly winning – a season of Dancing With the Stars.

Mel B partnered with Tony Award winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde), acclaimed set designer David Rockwell, Tony Award winning costume designer Gregg Barnes and music director Andrew Lippa for a wildjourney of sexual awakening, through fables and fantasy with an all-female cast of dancers, singers and hot rock musicians.
Mel B has hardly ever been shy, as millions of Spice Girls fans will attest. Her brash persona was at the core of the British phenomenon’s global success, with its worldwide sales of 55 million records and Guinness Book of World Records status for most No. 1 entries in the UK charts and most consecutive No. 1’s for a new act. The group’s enduring popularity brought about one of the most successful concert tours of 2007-08 with the reunion trek grossing more than $70 million. And it’s served her well in a wealth in a wide variety of ventures. She’s recorded two solo albums, with a third on the way. She’s starredas Mimi in a major production of Rent and in a presentation of The Vagina Monologues. And in addition to her Dancing TV presence, she hosted the 2008 Miss Universe pageant and is a special correspondent for Access Hollywood.
Her Totally Fit workout and health DVD hit the storesin early 2009 and was met with overwhelming success. Known for her incredible physique, she is also the spokesperson/face for Ultimo Lingerie, the biggest lingerie line in the UK. Additionally, she has starred in two campaigns for Virgin Mobile, and several others.
Mel B has also used her prominence to further benefit various charities and humanitarian causes. Partnering with Kraft Foods and Jell-O for three endorsement deals, she is helping to raise $250,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s “Pose for the Cure” breast cancer campaign. She has also worked with Will.I.Am in leading a fight against world poverty with Oxfam’s “In My Name” effort.
Along the way, she’s written a best-selling autobiography Catch a Fire, which chronicles her drive to stand out from the crowd dating back to her childhood, and has starred the wildly popular British soap, Burn It.Mel’s career has been based on inspiring people to leave behind their inhibitions and tackle anything that comes their way. “It’s all about feeling confident and listening to yourself and trusting yourself and being in your own power. And that’s what I’m all about.”Mel B currently resides in Los Angeles.
