If you love Neil Young, then Road Rock Volume I will pobably become part of your library. Otherwise I can’t imagine you’ll make the purchase for an eight song jam session.
RRVI opens with an opus rendition of “Cowgirl In The Sand”. Young doesn’t stop the jam there. “Words” lasts well into eleven minutes while “Tonight The Night” rambles on for ten minutes. If you are home playing air guitar, these songs may find you joyous, but a forty-minute car drive and these songs may put you to sleep.
The highlights are the Dylan cover of “All Along The Watchtower” with Chrissie Hynde, and the gorgeous “Peace Of Mind”. Even though you only get eight tracks, it’s enough to satisfy even the marginal Neil Young fan.
