Innovative popular rockers Marcy Playground and Indaba Music (www.indabamusic.com), the leading suite of online tools for musicians, are excited to announce a Studio Access program that will give independent musicians and fans around the world the opportunity to be included on the band’s next album and to get paid for their work.

Instrumental parts (stems) from Marcy Playground’s newest album, Leaving Wonderland…In A Fit Of Rage, will be made available online to Indaba community members so they can remix and re-imagine the tracks from August 26th – October 20th. John Wozniak, Marcy Playground founder, will select his favorite remix of each of the album’s 12 songs, for inclusion on a very special, and uniquely Indaba, version of the album. This new Indaba version of Leaving Wonderland… will be sold to the public, with remixers being credited and financially compensated in the form of royalties from the sales. “We are all pioneering a new age in the music business right now,” said Wozniak. “The industry is evolving so fast it’s dizzying. For me, the innovations arising as a result are just too cool to ignore. And, really let’s face it, for all of us musicians, the Indaba Music community is, by far, the most interesting and exciting thing to come along in years. In terms of business, however; these are totally uncharted waters. Basically anyone in the world who wants to remix our new album can, and… if their remix ends up on this new Indaba version of the album they’ll receive a proper royalty for it. This is a unique idea that we are bringing to a unique community of brave and creative men and women from all around the world, and I’m convinced that this collaboration will be educational, and ultimately a really positive experience for everyone involved.”

Indaba Music enables artists all over the world to create music together online. Members can connect with an international community of more than 200,000 musicians in 185 countries and create online recording sessions, in which they can record, edit, and mix tracks using the service’s groundbreaking Digital Audio Workstation. “We’re excited to work with bands like Marcy,” said Dan Zaccagnino, co-CEO of Indaba Music. “They are a great example of a band using Indaba to create an entirely new library of music, derived from their original works, that can generate promotional value and revenue to benefit both Marcy Playground and Indaba Members.”

A highly original and melodic modern rock band, Marcy Playground exploded onto the scene back in 1997 with the insanely irresistible hit single “Sex And Candy,” a song that notched [a then-record] fifteen consecutive weeks at number one on Billboard’s U.S. Modern Rock tracks chart and a self-titled debut album that went on to sell 1.7 million copies. Armed with songs born of an intense and turbulent period in his life, Marcy Playground’s main man, singer/guitarist John Wozniak, has fashioned a record, in Leaving Wonderland, that digs deep, taking the listener on an exhilarating and satisfying emotional and musical rollercoaster ride.
