Company Line: “It feels like the perfect time for a record like this,” says the Cooler Kids’ Kaz Gamble (better known to club enthusiasts the world over as DJ Kazimir) of the group’s debut album, Punk Debutante. “People have been beaten down with so much negativity lately. Our goal is to provide an escape from all that. We don’t want to ignore the harsh realities of life; we just want to show that life is more than one tone or mood – it’s a full spectrum of colors.”
The Good:
“All Around The World” – It’s almost embarrassingly unforgettable.
“Morning Star” – I wonder if someone stole my soul, or my ears. It’s sugary and sweet yet it’s so ready to eat.
“Viva La Fever” – Infectious.
The Marginal:
“Sha La La” – Good hook – weak verses.
“E Is For Everybody” – Lovely little ditty.
The Ugly:
“Sugartown” – All isn’t good in Sugartown.
“Life After Sex” – Pathetic.
Frankly: Cooler Kids start off with a full head of steam but halfway through the record starts to slow down into songs that only get worse.
