Track #
1. I Believe In Love Sweet, beautiful, and full of life. Cole’s voice riding the wah of the guitar is heavenly. Rating: 7/10
2. Amen Do yourself a favor and listen to it, closely. Rating: 8/10
3. La Tonya Slowly echoes a trip into your soul from the outside in. Rating: 6/10
4. Pearl What is a precipice? Better look that one up. Though I might not know what “standing on the edge of another precipice in life” means, I know it sounds pretty good. Rating: 6/10
5. Be Somebody Through the twirl of the Wurlitzer comes another question for God. TLC’s T-Boz makes an appearance, backing Cole during the final chorus. Rating: 7/10
6. Rhythm Of Life DJ Premier provides the cuts to lay Cole’s preaching on, with a stab at hip hop that comes off like an Ani Difranco impression. Rating: 6/10
7. Free Rating: 5/10
8. Suwannee Jo Poignant stories, thoughts, and observations. Rating: 7/10
9. God Is Watching Perhaps the most important message on the album as the song ends with Cole singing over and over, “Just love one another.” Rating: 8/10
God is the focal point of much of the album. Though the album only consists of nine songs, it’s its inspiration that makes it so good.
overall rating: 6.5/10
