Choppa – Straight from the N.O.

Choppa
Artist: Title
Title: Straight from the N.O.
Label: No Limit
Rating: 4/10

Corporate Line: Sometimes it’s the voice. Sometimes it’s the lyrics. Sometimes it’s the personality. Sometimes it’s the look. For Choppa, it was all of the above and then some. The red-hot New Orleans rapper is the latest in the long line of hitmakers from Master P’s New No Limit Records and is on the verge of becoming the next Southern star.

The Good:
“Straight From the N.O.” – Not great by any means, it’s your typical No Limit chant. The rhymes aren’t tight and the chorus occasional stalls but you can still shout it.
“Brick Jungle” – Tight hook.
“Shake It Like That” – It’ll get you out of your seat.

The Bad:
“Dirty Dirty” and “Holla At Me” – No Limit has this philosophy that if you find something to chant along with then it’s a good song. Wrong.
“Represent No Block” and “Choppa Style” – Weak beats are supported by weak rhymes.

Frankly: It’s the same No Limit as I can hear, and that’s not really a good thing. No Limit claims he’s the next southern star. We say; it’s not looking bright.
