Company Line: Zane has taken time off from the big screen to finish his highly anticipated album – THE BIG ZANE THEORY – the follow up to his 2000 debut Young World: The Future.
The Good:
“Do It, Don’t Stop” – It sounds like Zane has taken lessons in the school of P. Diddy and pop hip-hop.
“Lil Zane” – Sounds a little too familiar, Jay-Z might be wondering if Zane is bumming his childlike hymns.
The Marginal:
“How We Ride” – Middle of the road. The rhymes aren’t tight the only savior on the track is a decent hook.
“I.O.U.” – A good dedication to those who have helped Zane and surprisingly the verses outweigh the chorus.
“Come Runnin’” – Another corny rap ballad but you can see how this might end up being a radio single considering all the Beyonce and Ashanti singles that hit.
The Ugly:
“Bounce” – Could be a early 90’s retread.
“Shake It” – I don’t think Sir Mix-A-Lot would even touch this corny track.
Frankly: Zane is a weak M.C. He’s better at writing pop tracks than hip-hop tracks.
