THE STORY: South Park is an animated series featuring four foul-mouthed 3rd graders, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. The show is set in the Colorado town of South Park where weird things keep happening, whether its being abducted by aliens or avoiding Kyle’s little brother Ike. The show is based on the short film by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, “The Spirit of Christmas”.

THE EXTRAS: The commentaries by Trey Parker and Matt Stone are minimal. None are particularly long—lasting only a few minutes—although they are often very funny.

FRANKLY: It’s difficult to say anything good or bad. These episodes are geared towards both the diehard and the casual fan. Casual fans may not want to buy an entire season—but who would buy this but a big fan? The diehard fan will mostly likely already own every season up to this point. The Hits seems to be little more than a ploy to earn a few dollars for the holiday season. What makes it even more bizarre is that Parker and Stone let this happen. These are the guys who usually rag on everyone else for overexposure and exploitation of fans. Maybe Parker and Stone will make an episode where the South Park kids take on their makers of their show for trying to earn a fast buck at the expense of their fans.
