The two-disc release contains the full concert performance with rare backstage footage and previously unseen extras making the collection a must-have for Pink Floyd fans.

Disc 2 features a live filmed performance of Pink Floyd–David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright–performing the group’s towering masterpiece, The Dark Side of the Moon, in its glorious entirety during the second half of the Division Bell concert. Included on disc 1 are “Shine on You Crazy Diamond,” “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2),” “High Hopes,” and “Learning to Fly” as well as never-before-seen rarities such as Bootlegging the Bootleggers and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of life on the road with one of the world’s biggest and most influential rock bands.

Mixed in mind-expanding 5.1 surround sound and digitally re-mastered by James Guthrie, the Pulse DVD includes some of original screen films used for the 1970s concert performances of The Dark Side of the Moon (which were never filmed) as well as the visual components for the piece which were remade for the 1994 tour.

THE REVIEW: Pink Floyd is the one band where going to their concert is a once in a lifetime experience. Pink Floyd members David Gilmour, Rick Wright, and Nick Mason–minus the brilliant Roger Waters—are backed by great musicians. Its wonderful to see Pink Floyd put on a show from your couch.

The first disc is nearly three hours of concert footage full of some of Pink Floyd’s classic songs. There are a lot of songs from Division Bell because they were touring to promote that album in 1995. The second disc is truly amazing. The band leaves for an intermission and comes back and plays Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. It’s amazing. As if this wasn’t enough, Pink Floyd come back for encores which include “Wish You Were Here”, “Run Like Hell” and “Comfortably Numb”. Gilmour proves his absolute genius as he makes the guitar talk as it may have never spoke before. It’s mind-boggling.

THE EXTRAS: “Bootlegging The Bootleggers” includes bootleg shot video of a few songs. There are also music videos for “Learning To Fly” and “Take It Back”. “Say Goodbye To Life As We Know It” is video of the production crew and others backstage. “Tour Stuff” includes information about the tour that includes info on the stage, the itinerary, etc. There is also an acoustic performance of “Wish You Were Here” with Billy Corgan. Finally, if you aren’t exhausted by the sheer depth of the video and extras there is a picture gallery.

FRANKLY: Pink Floyd Pulse won’t replace going to see the band live, but it’s a great substitution.
