THE STORY: The key players behind the popular Blue Collar Comedy tour–Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, and Larry the Cable Guy–take the next logical step behind the concept here, and turn the riotous, fun-filled performances into a television show. With musical performances, regular features, and a host of sketch-based comedy routines, BLUE COLLAR TV shows off all the talents of the three performers and their guests. Worth seeing for the regular “Redneck dictionary word of the week” section alone, this popular show from the WB has a variety of episodes from its second season included here.
THE REVIEW: Blue Collar TV isn’t unlike Saturday Night Live and Mad TV in that you either hit or miss. We get the usual Larry The Cable Guy and his thoughts, “Redneck yard of the week,” and “Redneck dictionary word of the week.” Some of the best bits are Million Dollar Boobies featuring Dolly Parton, Mayberry: CSI, Etiquette School, and the hillbilly version of The O.C. The sad thing is that there are numerous episodes and only a few that are worth mentioning.
THE EXTRAS:
“Banned From The Booth” – A three minute featurette of deleted skits.
“Too Much for TV” – There are thirteen unaired skits.
FRANKLY: Blue Collar TV: The Complete Second Season could be summed up on a one hour DVD. It’s a shame there are two skits that are unlaughable for each one that will make you laugh outloud.
