Buckcherry broke onto the scene with the ferocious “Lit Up” that quickly became a huge hit bringing the bad boy ballad “For The Movies”. Buckcherry is the new face of rock. With their bad boy looks and skin are more art than flesh. These guys have taken the spot vacated by Guns ‘N’ Roses.
“Frontside” is relentless. Josh Todd’s voice is just as potent and destructive as ever. It doesn’t hurt they these cats know how to kick out a good hook, which brings me to “Ridin’”. With its toe-tapping chorus, this is sure to stick to your ribs.
The bad boys are at it again and “Time Bomb” is certain to spark some sneers with a chorus that rails “it’s coming for you/ it’s coming me/ life ain’t nothing but bitches and money.” That’s actually nothing, just have a listen to the sinister “Porno Star” that proclaims “I’m a big dick motherfucking porno star.” Interesting to say the least. So how the hell do you follow up those two burners? How about the almost tender “Place In The Sun”? Well, I guess if you are going to give us extremes, this is a good way to shock the system, especially as it gets more tender with the ballad “Underneath”. I guess Buckcherry figured we needed a rest after those tracks and they were right.
Buckcherry have become the reincarnation of rock. As filthy and nasty they can be, they still rock with the best of them. You have a band that can tear it up going from the beating of “Whiskey In The Morning” to the gorgeous “You” then from the hard-as-nails “Fall” into the phenomenally beautiful hidden song. For the life of me I can’t figure out why they didn’t make this song a single. Buckcherry is one of the most extreme talents in music today. They kill you as they resurrect you.
