Road To Perdition

Road To Perdition
Cast: Tom Hanks
Studio: Fox
Rating: 7/10

The Film Studio Synopsis: In Depression-era Chicago, hit man Michael O’Sullivan (Tom Hanks) is known to friends and enemies alike as the “Angel of Death”. Uncompromising in his work, O’Sullivan is just as devoted to his private life as an upstanding husband and father of two young boys. But when those worlds collide, taking the lives of his wife and younger son, O’Sullivan and his surviving son leave their sedate home life behind and embark on a startling journey of revenge.

The Good: My favorite scene is when we are introduced to Jude Law’s character Maquire, a camera-toting killer. Tom Hanks is his usual grand self. He takes a seemingly heartless killer and gives him a soul, which really ups the anti for Perdition.

The Bad: Paul Newman, who plays a sort of Godfather character, isn’t utilized enough. You wonder what its like behind doors. Is he a sad man? Is he a happy man? Or is he neither? We want to know.

Frankly: This film would have been interested had it followed the path of any of the three most intriguing characters played by Hanks, Newman or Law. Any movie that could get you to invested as much into characters and have you begging for more time with them has done its job.
