A lot has been said about Foxy Brown, in the news and by others in the last few years. Now Foxy Brown releases Broken Silence to set the records straight.
“Fallin’” wants to set it straight, but doesn’t have the power. “Oh Yeah” is work with worldly flavor yet sounds bizarre behind the Brooklyn twang. Even more odd is “Candy”. Kelis sounds sweet and Foxy breaks it down, but what’s up with that chorus “I taste just like candy/ so dance with me’? Weak.
Foxy Brown continuously hits us with the attitude we’ve come to know. Broken Silence doesn’t bring the power of her previous release and her reggae (listen to “Run Dem”) needs some work as well. Even farther down the pipe is the sad “Run Yo Shit”.
Broken Silence kicks out some hot tracks like “I Don’t Care” featuring Kori and “So Hot” featuring Young Gavin.
Foxy Brown finally finds the real with “The Letter” to her mother. However, as much pain she has and how she seems to wants to change, Foxy never stops dropping f-bombs all over the place. Where is the honesty in that? It’s nothing but contradictions. Who is the real Foxy?
