CORPORATE LINE: Ziggy Sokky, Ziggy Sokky, Hoy! Hoy! Hoy! The chauvinistic celebration of all things male continues with The Man Show Season Two DVD boxed set. More beer, monkeys and of course, Juggies.
THE SHOW: Being a man, it seems almost wimpy to say anything bad about the Man Show—and even though there are the occasional brilliant skits there is a boat load of juvenile and downright idiotic skits that would be funny if a thirteen-year-old came up with it. Sure, any red blooded American male likes to see gorgeous women naked however it gets to a point where its not funny anymore. Anyone who has watched Howard Stern knows this to be true—there is a difference—Howard is genuinely funny without appear to try.
The biggest problem with the DVD is it is still censored. If you are paying nearly $50 for the DVD set I suspect you’d want something more than what you could record on your Tivo or on VHS tape—don’t give me the extras are something new because they are barely worth the extra cost.
There are skits that make this a winner however: “Father and Son” that features Jimmy and his son are hilarious. Goldberg’s skit about the Jewish Festival of Lights is golden. So why am I bagging on this? Here is the problem; if put all the funny stuff were put on DVD instead of the dead material it would have filled one DVD. Sure you want your episodes, but many are filled with bad material.

FRANKLY: The back of the DVD set says you get five DVDS—there are six and on top of that there are only four episodes per DVD—not five as listed. Unfortunately, this seems like the beginning of the end. The fact that you can’t get this uncensored hurts the show. Without sounding like a horny teenager, what if Howard Stern released DVDs of the E! show and it was still censored? Would you buy it? Of course you wouldn’t. Where is the incentive to plop down the big bucks?
