Under The Tuscan Sun

Under The Tuscan Sun
Cast: Diane Lane, Raoul Bova, Sandra Oh, Lindsay Duncan, Dan Bucatinsky
Studio: Touchstone
Rating: 4/10

An American lawyer (Lane) quits her stressful job and travels to Tuscany , Italy looking for a new life, deciding to buy a derelict villa near the village of Cortona . While rebuilding her new home and learning how to live in another country, she finds a new start on life… and love (Bova).

The Good: The scenery is breathtaking and unbelievable. The home they chose to represent in this film does match the book closely. Diane Lane proves that she can pull off such a role without appearing too over the top with it.

The Bad: The film is nothing like the book. The film is a huge disappointment because of this. It would be different if they only had parts of the book changed, but the film as a whole has a different concept completely. In the book, (diane) is married with a child. The exhaustion throughout the book of her emotional attachment to the home and to Tuscany is what stands out. The people, the places and the food, I mean what happen to all this glorious food that the book was so filled with and made my mouth begging for a taste?

Frankly: I couldn’t understand why in the world they’d take such a great book and give Hollywood this much room to ruin it.
