It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Tony Braxton and a lot has happened since. She’s had a child and has seemingly undergone a seeming metamorphous.
Hot:
“Lies, Lies, Lies” – A different sound, more rock-pop and they work quite well.
Medium:
“Selfish” – A lovely, but not massive ballad.
“Hit The Freeway” – Reminds you of the Jackson 5 without the frills.
“Let Me Show You The Way (Out)” – Getting burned always sucks. And where did that deep voice come from?
“A Better Man” and “Me & My Boyfriend” – Sexy, but nothing sticks out.
Mild:
“Give It Back” – This is an extremely timid track.
For some reason More Than A Woman feels rushed. There is no real hit here, the songs sound disjointed and never really cohesive, perhaps that is because there are a number of different producers throughout the record. Braxton is known best for huge hits and ballads, you won’t find that here.
