THE FILM: The Lion King 2 tries to move the story forward by tackling new issues it’s just too bad the message gets lost. Perhaps there were too many cooks in the kitchen as there are a handful of screenwriters who attempt to put a cap on this in an hour and a half.
There is also the question of whether they are trying to make a statement or make a movie. Too bad the Lion King has been followed up by such weak sequels.

FRANKLY: When a sequel like the Lion King 2 is released direct-to-video you can be certain the movie is bad otherwise it would have been released to theaters. At least Disney was right by acknowledging that it wasn’t good enough to release theatrically. As usual Disney doesn’t try something new or out of the box. It might keep your kids interested but it won’t get repeated viewings.
