Corporate Line: When a presidential candidate dies unexpectedly in the middle of the campaign, the Democratic party picks an unlikely candidate, Washington, D.C. alderman Mays Gilliam (Rock), as his replacement.
The Good: Chris Rock and Bernie Mac are hilarious individually; together they are still pretty damn funny. In all honesty it is Mac who saves the film. Head Of State feels like a night of improv…
The Bad: …Well it is the improv that hurts and helps. Rock stumbles a bit on lines that don’t sound rehearsed. The script seems weak and the directing, by Chris Rock, is not above the level.
Frankly: See it, but I’m not sure if it’ll get your vote.
