Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe
Studio: Warner Bros.
Rating: 7/10

The Film Studio Synopsis: The follow-up to Harry Potter and the Sorcererís Stone finds young wizard Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) facing new challenges during their second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as they try to discover a dark force that is terrorizing the school.

The Good: Surprisingly Chamber stands up tall next to last years’ Sorcerer’s Stone. The best part is the film feels more like an adventure for those of all ages. It’s darker, creepier and occasionally more fun in the sense that we are already warmly aware from which each character come.

Chamber has lots of intricacies and fun new characters. It’s the attention to each detail that reminds us of what a good film should and could be.

The Bad: The film is extremely long. On the flipside it can be said that you get a lot of bang for your buck. There are some fantastic special effects, but it occasionally feels overdone.

Frankly: The script is true to the book. The film is true to the first. The story is true to your joy. We need to be reminded again that a sequel isn’t always meant to stand on it’s own. Chamber doesn’t stand out as an epic singularly, but in combination with its predecessor this film is all that it needs to be.
