Corporate Line: A criminal psychologist (Berry) awakens to find herself a patient in the very same mental institution in which she works, with no memory of the murder of her husband (Dutton) that she’s accused of committing. As she tries to regain her memory and convince her coworkers of her innocence, a vengeful spirit uses her as an earthly pawn… which only further convinces all involved of both her guilt and her increasingly steadly descent into madness and delusion.
The Good: There really isn’t much to talk about that is good. Academy Award winning Halle Berry is her usual overrated self. Let’s skip right to the bad.
The Bad: Again, Halle Berry does nothing to prove she can handle a part in a film like this. Penelope Cruz is in the movie all of about five minutes, not enough to tell just how bad she was with her fake crying and all. I believe my three-year-olds fake fits more than Cruz. The film isn’t scary; it’s not original and worst of all it’s not worth the cost of a matinee. The only really scary part of this film is watching Halle Berry get open-mouth kissed by Charles S. Dutton.
Frankly: I’m pissed. I thought we might get a psychological thriller worth watching. Instead we got an uninteresting film from beginning to end. If you want to see Berry kicking butt watch the X-Men. If you want to see her scare the hell out of you check out Swordfish. However it’s hard to say if Berry was worse in that movie or this one. On the plus side you get to see Berry semi-nude in Swordfish. Bonus.
