Brand New Immortals are hooky, just not quite so addictive. “Reasons Why” rolls up dressed like Living Colour. The comparisons don’t stop there, and though I understand that it’s mostly common vocal sounds, how can you get past it? “Kalifornia” sounds similar. It’s just too bad Living Colour crashed bigger hooks and guitar licks in their sleep.
Finally these guys get their act together. “Turn Around” is gorgeous. It walks the line of their influences yet stays true to their unique sound. The hipper swinging beat of “Tiny Voices” gets lost during the chorus and that is a mistake they never quite make up for.
Brand New Immortals give it their best shot. Tragic Show gives the world a taste of rock long forgotten. Now the other shoe drops. This album is very monotonous. You get locked down in one style and it never changes, except for a few rare gems.
