Freddy Vs. Jason

Freddy Vs. Jason
Cast: Robert Englund, Ken Kirzinger, Monica Keena, Jason Ritter, Kelly Rowland
Studio: New Line
Rating: 5/10

Corporate Line: A group of teenagers finds themselves stuck in the middle of a battle between two forces of evil: silent stalker Jason Voorhees (Hodder) and gabby dream master Freddy Krueger (Englund), as the battle wages from Elm Street to a climactic finale fought at Camp Crystal Lake.

The Good: Guys might like the T & A. Most of the fun is trying to figure out who might win the battle of the bad guys. Actually this film may rejuvenate the career of Jason (this is not a spoiler) who may have doubled his number of kills in this film alone. When you put the two together I’d have to admit that Jason is much cooler. Most of the audience was rating for Freddy before the film, but the crowd soon turned and wanted to sad sack from Crystal Lake to win the war.

The Bad: Laughs out did the horror. The first Nightmare was scary. The first three Friday, The 13ths were the same. But somewhere Freddy took on this horrible sense of humor and no one can seem to beat it out of him. When I see a horror flick I want to be horrified. When I leave and have nightmares that night and afraid to get up to go to the bathroom in the dark. There were no nightmares, no sleeping with the lights on, nothing like that. Neither film has given me those types of creeps since 1984.

Frankly: This is a nothing more than a high-tech B-movie. Boobs, blades, and bad guys; what would a horror flick be without them?

I wish Freddy and Jason would have teamed up against Ben and Jen, now that would have a great film.
