Evil Dead 2: The Book of the Dead

Evil Dead 2: The Book of the Dead
Cast: Bruce Campbell, Sarah Berry, Dan Hicks
Studio: Anchor Bay
Rating: 8/10

CORPORATE LINE: Originally released in 1987 and now an essential part of the contemporary horror film landscape, both casual and die-hard fans know the story of Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn like the back of their still-attached hand! Bruce Campbell returns as Ash, the sole survivor of the first Evil Dead. With his girlfriend possessed by demons and his body parts running amok, Ash is forced to single-handedly (wink, wink!) battle the legions of the damned as the most lethal – and groovy – hero in horror movie history!

THE MOVIE: This is the rare sequel that is better than the original. Yes I said better! Evil Dead 2 is unbelievable brilliant and original. Rare do you find a film that redefines a genre. It happens maybe every ten years and Evil Dead 2 does exactly that.

Evil Dead 2 goes beyond horror into new realms. In some respects you could even say this is without a genre. It goes outside of just scaring the viewer right into making us wonder what is going on and in what world could this possibly be. This is a visual delight even for the timid.

FRANKLY: Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn is a masterpiece. If you don’t own it you have to buy the new DVD release. Sure, it’s cheesy but its definitely a lot of fun!
