Corporate Line: Among fans of Xena: Warrior Princess, Season Three of the series is regarded as a pinnacle in the six-year fantasy action epic about the legendary adventures of the beautiful and powerful heroine portrayed by Lucy Lawless. Anchor Bay Entertainment in association with Davis Anderson Merchandising Corp will debut the must-have Xena: Warrior Princess – Season Three DVD collection featuring the complete season of 22 original episodes digitally re-mastered in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, plus over nine hours of new supplemental materials exclusive to the DVD release.
The Story: Season three very well crafted. Xena’s sidekick Gabrielle takes on a greater roll and that has its up and down–occasionally the plots are fun and others are overdone. The bathing scene was certainly a fan favorite. Xena always seems to bring in an equal amount of comedy through all the sword play. Hilarious episodes like “Warrior…Priestess… Tramp” and “Been There, Done That” are balanced by the delicious dramas “The Sacrifice and “One against an army.”
The Extras:
Included in the extras is a vast library of never-before-seen footage including deleted, alternate and recently discovered scenes. Also Cast and Crew Interviews including actors Lucy Lawless, Renee O’Connor, Hudson Leick, and Ted Raimi; creator/executive producer Robert G. Tapert; executive producer/writers R.J. Stewart and Steven L. Sears; cinematographer Donald Duncan; set designer Robert Gillies; director Oley Sassone. Frankly: Although it isn’t the strongest Xena season it is certainly close. The extras are the hidden treasure–this is one of the best collections of extras to date!
