WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It

WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It
Game: WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It
Platform: PS2
Studio: THQ
Rating: 7.5/10

The WWF couldn’t be bigger, but there have been a lot of letdowns along the way when it comes to wrestling games. Does Smackdown have what it takes?

Look: Very good animation. The character modeling is quite good for some, and for others it’s not so impressive. I’m not sure why they are all over the place. Some of the face models are the same, good to bad.

The opening sequences for each intro are pretty impressive. The arenas aren’t much to brag about, however, with crowds that don’t work. It’s a really cool idea to allow us to fight into the crowd, but not much to look at.

Feel: Smackdown is a bit of an upgrade to the previous PS games. The controls work better than many wrestling games played in the past, and for good reason. It works. The one big problem I had was with doing finishing moves. Some are near impossible to execute while some others are a touch too easy.

You can also fight in cages, take on a hardcore match, street fights, Royal Rumble, six-man, and more. It admittedly adds some needed depth to this game.

Hear: Very bad commentary. Teeters on unlistenable. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why you hear what you do. Aside from that, there is decent theme music for the wrestlers and the sound effects are pretty damn good.

Frankly: If you have to go this game alone, you will get bored quickly. But if you bring in a partner, the beat downs will never get tired.
