GRAPHICS: The graphics aren’t great and that is too bad. Van Helsing looks sort of like Hugh Jackman—if you try hard enough to see the similarities. There is clunkiness to the graphics. When you are used to fluid movements from your video games the lack of that sticks out like a sore thumb.
CONTROLS: Van Helsing is a shooter for the most part. There is good and bad with this format. Van Helsing has automatic aiming, which is a plus. You can pick up a few cool weapons along the way. Most of the weapons work best on certain monsters which adds a nice layer of depth.
There is a grappling gun that allows you to escape trouble or pull an enemy for a closer look. The problem with this as with many other things is how poor the controls reaction time are.
SOUND: Nothing spectacular. Hugh Jackman offers his voice too bad it won’t fix the rest of the games issues.
FRANKLY: Van Helsing is another in a long line of movie games that sinks.
