Look: The environments are done well. Buildings are done well and nicely detailed. The characters’ faces are fantastically modeled. Their bodies are still a little blocky and overall feel more like cartoon characters than being realistic. The attacks are bloody just the way gamers like it.
Feel: Fans were excited about Shinobi coming back, but the action is where its at in Tenchu. There are some minor problems, but they can be overlooked. The best aspect is just how tough this game is. You have to think and not just mindlessly kill your mark. Ninja means stealth and that is what is required here.
When it comes to controls there isn’t much depth until later into the game. After many stealth kills you get more skills, which is a great addition. The A.I. isn’t up to par. The enemies seem to be pretty simple minded and often too easy to get a kill on.
The camera can be a little tough. Sometimes it doesn’t seem to want to work correctly. It’s nice to be able to sit around a corner, but there are glitches.
Hear: The environmental sounds are vastly improved. You get the sounds of the outdoors but still you don’t seem to be all that stealth. The best aspect is the game’s sense of humor.
Frankly: Tenchu seems to be the kind of ninja game that you’d expect. You fight in the darkness, kill without a sound and leave no witnesses. This is a fantastic sequel and really worth picking up. Be one with yourself.
