If you liked the first Tony Hawk release, then prepare for Christmas a month early as Tony Hawk 2 hits the streets.
Look: Activision has literally improved on near perfection. The skaters’ movements, better. The skate parks, better. Everything about this game looks out of this world.
Feel: I read inside the package that a new game will be coming out on the Tony Hawk game engine. That alone sells future releases, be it bike games, rollerblading, whatever. I’m buying it. TH2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Period. Just as you think you’ve figured out the coolest tricks in the galaxy, all of the sudden you find yourself pulling a trick out of nowhere, blowing your mind all over again. TH2 boasts great new moves and skaters to add to your experience.
Hear: TH2 has the best soundtrack ever added to a video game. Artists like Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy, Bad Religion, Naughty By Nature, Powerman 5000, and Papa Roach bring the noise. Oh, and there are some great sound effects too. Nothing better than knocking the wind out of your skater or hearing metal on metal grinding as you kickflip onto a rail.
Finally: With a park editor, create a skater, over fifty parks, tons of new skaters, free skate, and a few bonus characters like Spiderman, you may find yourself taking weekends off to play this. The replay value is insane. This game is worth every penny. I can’t imagine a better skating game. If I were on a desert island and had one game and one console to choose, it would be Tony Hawk 2 on my Dreamcast.
