GAME STUDIO DESCRIPTION: You’ve been chosen by Tony Hawk to take on Bam Margera as your teams go globetrotting on an insane road trip: the World Destruction Tour. THUG2 grinds in with a hilarious story mode, an unprecedented level of customization, and more moves than the Skate Gods could dream of. Make the world your own skate park, as you spray your custom tag, slap stickers, and even create new skate lines as you wreak havoc. Now you can play as yourself, your teammates, or over 20 special guest skaters. When you’re ready to go old school, check out Classic Mode with all-time favorite goals like S-K-A-T-E, Secret Tape, and High Score against a 2-minute timer. Grab your board, an arsenal of spray-paint… jump into the tour van and get ready to wreak havoc across the globe.
PLAY: Thankfully the PSP version of Underground 2 is a near exact port of the console version right down to the controls. If you’ve played any version of Tony Hawk in the past then you’ll be able to pick up this version and play it right away. There are a few adjustments because the PSP doesn’t have as many buttons as the PS2 but you will get a handle on it immediately.
What is more astonishing is that the PSP version of THUG 2 has new levels—four to be exact. The Story Mode is deep with the Tony Hawk team or the bad boys who role with Bam Margera as they go on the World Destruction Tour. You can skate or run around the parks and while much of it remains similar to the older versions it’s a fun update.
The Classic Mode is a great way to burn up the hours. You skate parks that were in older versions of Tony Hawk and it’s still fun even after the millionth time around. These are the old school two minute runs where you try to collect S-K-A-T-E and C-O-M-B-O.
GRAPHICS: There is some pixilation that isn’t as obvious on the console versions yet the PSP is so close that you will barely notice. The loading time is a little long however there is nearly no lag during game play, and that is the most important thing. You’ll certainly be astonished to see such a good looking game on such a small system.
SOUND: The soundtrack is amazing. The rest of the game sounds exactly like its console version—if you have your head set on. The stereo sound is wonderful and with the headset on there were a few times when I jumped because the sound was right in my head.
FRANKLY: The PSP version is nearly identical to the console version from the controls to the graphics. THUG 2 is a must own if you have a PSP.
