Ready to Rumble Boxing: Round 2

Ready to Rumble Boxing: Round 2
Game: Ready to Rumble Boxing: Round 2
Platform: PS2
Studio: Midway
Rating: 5.5/10

Ready to Rumble: Round 2 is a good sequel that hasn’t really changed a bit.

Look:
Midway used the PS2 to make a nice-looking game. The cartoonish characters are back and look a bit improved over the Dreamcast version.

Feel:
Round 2 plays exactly like the first. Just like last year, in spelling out RUMBLE, your fighter can then land some serious blows to the opponent. In this version there has been an added twist: each time you spell it out, you get a whole new treat. Overall it’s just button mashing at its silly best.

Hear:
The fighters are funny to listen to. The sounds in the fight, like a blow to the head, are pretty cartoonish too, fitting well in the equation.

Finally:
There are almost thirty characters, some left from the last release, and some new. The best of the new characters are the silly celebrity additions. Can you believe you can beat the molester out of Michael Jackson? He moonwalks, and even has the white glove. Or what about beating the hell out of the flabby midsection of Shaquille O’Neal? The final verdict: rent it, don’t buy it. There are only a few hours of fun. After that, you’ll be bored out of your mind.
