Ridge Racer V for PlayStation 2 is not only better than the previous release, but it’s a real push because it’s one of the first racers released for the PS2.
Look: RRV looks great. It is the best looking racing game I’ve ever played. The fine details don’t always make or break a game, but here it makes me one impressed gamer. The ground-keeping is phenomenal. The backdrops are stunning, just visually amazing for a video game.
Feel: I love when companies stick with a winning formula. RRV handles just like the other games in the series. It only betters the mistakes of the past without tinkering with the things you love best.
Hear: RRV has a fun soundtrack, even though I tend to turn it off after a while to hear the sound effects. The cars sound fantastic. Vroooom.
Finally: RRV is the best of the series. That says a lot to anyone who has played the previous releases, especially RRIV. The best thing about the release is that you aren’t going to just breeze through the levels. It takes some time to get good and there are lots of cars and secrets to be had. Ridge Racer V is one you’ll enjoy.
