Busta Rhymes – Anarchy

Busta Rhymes
Artist: Busta Rhymes
Title: Anarchy
Label: Elektra
Rating: 6/10

Busta is back, digging more deeply into fear with his fourth album, Anarchy. “Salute Da Gods” is fist pumping anger. Busta seems to be getting more and more bitter as he ages.

Swizz Beats have worked out the kinks and offered up some pretty fresh beats for Busta to ride. It used to be that Busta was the guy who could kick you in the ass and still drive your feet to dance. It’s something altogether different on Anarchy. “Live It Up” has a taste of the old Busta, but not as fresh. “Fire” is fast and furious.

Busta took the music from beginning to end. He really wants you to get your money’s worth, but seventy-five minutes is a lot to fill up, and often you find yourself asking why he didn’t edit this album a little better. Though it often flows quickly, it also hits some flat land. If you’ve followed Busta this long, don’t walk away from him just yet. I just don’t see new fans getting off on the darker Busta.
