NASCAR 2001

NASCAR 2001
Game: NASCAR 2001
Platform: PS2
Studio: EA
Rating: 7/10

I’m more of a cross country racer. I like the landscapes and different weather situations. It’s just much more fun. But if you love Nascar, read on.

Look: First, the cars are damn good. The shot from the inside out in the driver’s perspective is incredible. I enjoyed the camera shakes as you get bumped. Speaking of bumps, you’d better check that fender. The tracks vary, some being good, but some are about as exciting as racing in the middle of nowhere.

Feel: This isn’t the kind of game you can just go balls to the walls with. There is a lot of strategy involved. Things like drafting and cornering all come into play. I’m sure there are more, but I’m no Nascar aficionado. Still, I can say this is a fantastic simulation.

Sound: Screeching tires and the purr of a big block all sound right on. The soundtrack is limited and gets left in the dust.

Finally: This is up to you. If circling a track is your idea of fun, then you can’t find better.
