Game Company’s Description: Delivering a blend of atmospheric survival horror and intense first person shooter action, Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi immerses players in the terror of an ancient, gothic castle full of vampires. With the monstrous undead lurking around every corner, players must search through the shadowy halls and dank dungeons of a massive castle to free their imprisoned friends and family…failure to rescue the prisoners will not only result in their death, but in the resurrection of an ancient supernatural being who will threaten all of mankind.
Look: This isn’t cutting edge, but either is most rough looking horror movies from days when you actually got scared from the movies. It’s as spooky a looking game as there is.
Feel: A straight up shooter in what amounts to a horror movie. You work your way through Castle Malachi and its macabre. You save relatives and gather up rewards. This isn’t Castlevania so you won’t work your way as you would in a game like that. With this shooter you are given a time in which you must save the others.
You get a good deal of weapons from holy water to a crucifix and single-shot gun, which can be annoying as it, takes forever to reload. The monsters attack and really can scare the hell out of you. Many times I’d find myself with sweaty palms.
One issue is how monsters just pop up. Good for increasing the difficulty, but it’s nonsensical. One time I saved with lower energy and it took me over a dozen times to get free from those random monsters.
Hear: You hear the fright throughout. Very good score that sends shivers just like any old horror flick. The sound effects aren’t as strong.
Frankly: Nosferatu isn’t perfect. Most games aren’t. But the creepiness is worth the money alone.
