NFL QB Club 2001 is an improvement over last year’s release, but that isn’t saying much.
Look: Well, um, I’d like to tell you the whole story but that will take much too long. Again, it looks much better than last year’s game. The players are okay. The little pluses they added in animation for plays like diving catches and other things like this are neat.
Feel: Good grief. This is where I started to lose my mind. Nothing is worse than to lose control of your player because the computer is in some motion and doesn’t know how to react quickly enough. If playing offense wasn’t hard enough, defense almost drew rage. Here I go switching players to get to the ball carrier and somehow I’m nowhere in sight or the guy I need gets there after the fact. I don’t even want to get into the choppiness. Nasty.
Hear: Play by play is about the only thing that’s a-okay.
Finally: The biggest problem is you feel like you’re in coach mode. The only real control you have is picking your plays and formations. After that, it’s off to the races. You can place your bets as to what’s going to happen next since it seems out of your hands.
