The Xbox is here and Madden is one of the games that will be scooped up by the game system’s new owners. Does it hold up to the PS2 version? Does it move the game forward on the Xbox? Let’s see.
Look: Wow, this Xbox is powerful. The players get some real wear and tear on their uniforms and helmets. I couldn’t help but notice that and couldn’t wait to see how Marshall Faulk was going to look after a long game of running away from people. While he looked clean, players like Terrell Davis looked beat after his pounding.
Speaking of Davis, taking a look at their faces you’ll be stunned at how right on these look. It’s actually quite scary in a way. This is where the Xbox version takes a step above and beyond the PS2 version.
Feel: Madden on Xbox feels like Madden on the PS2. See the PS2 Madden review here for information on how this game handles.
Hear: Just like every other Madden game, you get a lot of Madden. And honestly, it’s getting a little annoying at this point. As Madden the game gets better, Madden the announcer gets worse. Which leads me to this question: Is Madden alive? Or is someone propping him up in the booth every Sunday and is EA Sports just reusing the same garbage we’ve heard for the last decade?
Finally: The 2002 Madden version is great. Perhaps the best thing that can be said about Madden 2002 for the Xbox is the same for the PS2. You won’t want to put it down.
