Miami Vice: The Game
Game: Miami Vice: The Game
Platform: PSP

GAME DESCRIPTION: Rogue cops and players become one in the dangerous universe of Miami Vice™. Set in today’s Miami, Miami Vice™ The Game lets you go deep undercover as narc officers Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs.

* Build your rep as a criminal player to infiltrate the seedy underbelly of South Beach.
* Pilot high-speed boats through Miami’s treacherous waterways.
* Lock and load for shoot-outs with violent criminals.
* Bribe shifty informants as you trade in drugs, arms and cash.
* Bring down an almost untouchable South American drug lord.
* Co-op play via wi-fi.

PLAY: Miami Vice: The Game is mostly a shoot-em-up game but it’s not another ‘been there and done that’ release. We found Miami Vice: The Game a lot of fun. The reputation aspect of Miami Vice: The Game is a great feature because you can go in as a regular looking guy and earn a good reputation with the crooks or look like a cop and lose your rep but being better protected. Overall, the reputation starts to mean a lot throughout the game as you go deeper and deeper throughout.

The actually shooting skills make Miami Vice easy and fun. The PSP isn’t always the easiest on shooters but Sierra did a good job converting Miami Vice to the PSP. That doesn’t mean the game is perfect. There are issues with the controls and most of all the collision detection.

Another cool aspect of Miami Vice is the ability to sell drugs you’ve confiscated and do other dirty things in order to earn your reputation. There are other parts of the game where you can go see drug kingpins. It’s always fun to be able to be on the good and evil side of things. There aren’t many interesting games where you can go undercover.

GRAPHICS: The environments lack some details which isn’t unusual issue with games ported to the PSP. The character models are nicely modeled and animated. It’s quite a surprise to see models this well done for the PSP. Miami Vice: The Game rivals even the GTA release.

SOUND: We expected the game to have a good soundtrack thanks to the movie, but the voice acting is another story altogether.

FRANKLY: Miami Vice: The Game is fun. The sad part is how ease with which Miami Vice: The Game can be beaten—it took us only a scant few hours to polish it off.
