What has made Bone Thugs-N-Harmony so recognizable in a world where it seems everyone has a rap album out? Their slick melodic flow. They can roll more syllables off their tongues faster than any artist out there. They cram words into sentences like you can’t believe, all while keeping the tracks completely hooky, yet street-worthy.
Their latest album is entitled BTNHRESURRECTION, though I didn’t realize that the band had quite left us in the first place. Of course, they haven’t released an album in three years, but they’ve been on album after album individually since. So perhaps a resurrection is in order. “Resurrection (Paper, Paper)” squashes the rumors about their demise.
The album has the usual Bone Thugs-N-Harmony anthems about getting high (“Weed Song” and “Ecstasy”), money (“Mind On Our Money”), and sex (“One Night Stand”). You can see from the song titles that they don’t try to hide a song’s intent.
And they don’t forget to pay respect to their roots and the street life. At one time, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were the most innovative rappers around. Their sound is as fresh today.
