Become the ultimate Hollywood player, with greater power to build and run your own motion picture studio.
* Add Death-Defying Stunts: Add new action-shots to your movies with a new actor-class: Stuntmen. But risk their health in the process and patch them up in a new facility, the Emergency Room.
* Create New Special Effects: New editor allows you to add special effects like smoke, fire, and explosions.
* Use Dramatic New Sets: Create the impression of large scale buildings and sweeping shots with new miniature sets.
PLAY: The Movies was fun enough—now the expansion pack has done well to tap into the most overused aspect of modern films—stunts and effects. It’s a heck of a lot of fun to get down to creating stunts and effects and then pulling them off. The effects range from car wrecks to grandiose explosions and monsters! There is even a green screen where the effects can be added to the scene after the fact.
One of the coolest additions is the stuntmen. You have to take your stuntmen through training and train them so they can pull off a successful stunt. If they don’t make it through the stunt they will get hurt and need to go to the hospital. You don’t head into the stunt blind—there is a rating that tells you how good your stuntman has to be and what their chances are at being successful.
GRAPHICS: The upgrade doesn’t completely fix the character models—but the animation is still tops and makes for a great, fluid game.
SOUND: Not much has changed in regards to the sound and voice-overs. That’s a good thing.
FRANKLY: The Movies: Stunts & Effects is a nice addition to the original The Movies. It’s not perfect however—it doesn’t fix some of the flaws of the original. All of the new additions, stunts, free-camera, and set designs make this a must buy for those who own the original The Movies. Actually, once you play with the stunts and effects you’ll wonder how you ever created a movie without them.
