Game Company’s Description: The follow-up to last year’s best-selling mystery adventure game Law & Order: Dead on the Money, Law & Order 2: Double or Nothing introduces an all-new story and challenges you to be both Criminal Investigator and District Attorney as you bring a killer to justice! Partner with Detective Lennie Briscoe to investigate the death of a scientist found shot in midtown Manhattan. Interview witnesses, interrogate suspects, gather evidence and order lab tests as you unravel entangled love affairs, financial misdeeds and secret identities. Arrest the right murder suspect and test your prosecution powers as you build your case with Assistant D.A. Serena Southerlyn. A successful conviction is up to you!
Based on the popular and award-winning TV series, Law & Order 2: Double or Nothing features a realistic “ripped from the headlines” case written by a Law & Order writer and includes 3 popular Law & Order actors: Jerry Orbach, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Elisabeth Röhm. Adjustable skill levels, more plot twists, all-new fun and challenging puzzles, improved graphics and superior animation make for an engrossing and challenging murder mystery that puts you in charge of the action!
Look: You’ll find the crime scene to be quite grisly. The backgrounds are amazingly sharp and easy to navigate. The characters aren’t impressive. There are some problems with pixilation and depth of facial features. So the characters come off as flat. There isn’t anything that will blow your mind but if you think of the show it’s not all that flashy either so it’s kept in perspective.
Feel: Honestly it’s too easy. Vivendi is aiming at a wider range of game players other than the diehard junkies. There is a lot of flow to the game that is similar to that of the television show. You can take the good with the bad but at least you can say they stayed true to the show.
Hear: Thankfully the real actors from the show offer up their voice instead of giving us some bad knock off.
Frankly: I love the show and really enjoyed the game, while it lasted. I’m not sure non-fans will play this, but I would recommend it. There are good puzzles and a few brain twisters and a tension that mounts. It won’t take weeks to beat but even the hours will fly by and you’ll be glad you gave Law & Order 2 a try.
