Company Description: Legends of Wrestling II builds upon the retail success of its predecessor and will feature all new match types and more than 65 superstars, including Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Bruno Sammartino, Bret “Hitman” Hart, Sid Vicious, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner and Jerry “The King” Lawler.
Look: There are a few good and bad points. Let’s cover the bad first. When you are in tag team matches the camera is often pulled back to far for a good perspective.
The wrestlers look like cartoon characters more than their real-life counterparts.
Feel: The first thing you’ll notice is the meter and your ability to reverse moves. It’s new, unique and when you can take advantage of it its great. The game is full of moves you’d expect.
There are great options. Three and four-way matches, elimination, cage matches and a battle royal. The cage matches are perhaps the most fun. You have to get through the door in order to win, its harder than it sounds. It’s the first wrestling game I’ve ever played where there was some tension built up because if you don’t beat your opponent down enough he’ll get you and stop you from getting out. It’s a race and a smackdown all in one.
Career mode isn’t bad. You have to work your way up through your territories in order to get to the big dance. Your abilities are ranked on moves, how much the audience likes you or hates you and other things.
Hear: The only thing worth mention is the entrance themes are there. Thank you.
Frankly: Legends of Wrestling 2 could have been so much more. Growing up with wrestlers like Andre The Giant and Roddy Piper it was a dream come true to have a game with these guys inside, but they still haven’t got it right, yet.
