Hummer Badlands
Game: Hummer Badlands
Platform: Xbox
Studio: 2K Games
Rating: 5/10

GAME DESCRIPTION: Global Star Software, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., announced today that HUMMER® Badlands is now available at major retailers in North America on PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Xbox® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Using the legendary HUMMER® 4-wheel drive technology, HUMMER® Badlands lets gamers conquer any terrain on the ultimate log climbing, torque twisting, off-road HUMMER® competition.
For those who can only dream about getting behind the wheel of one of these powerful beasts, HUMMER® Badlands gives players the ability to race 19 different HUMMER® models, including the H1, H2, H3 and H3T Concept. Additionally, players can participate in a host of extreme challenges to establish HUMMER® dominance including Championship Mode, Multiplayer Head-to-Head Battle and Tug-of-War. Plus, racing both on and off-road, gamers can smash through barriers to uncover short cuts and hidden routes.

PLAY: There are only three Hummer models in existence; H1, H2, and H3 and that limit the vehicles to chose. It also limits the depth of play. The Hummers are tough however in Hummer Badlands you’d think they were indestructible. Hit a tree at full speed and simply bounce off and ready to go at it again.

The events are limited as is the excitement. Most of it feels like an ATV game. The tracks aren’t exciting and going off-road never feels satisfying. Even the unlockable Hummers are disappointing. The races aren’t a challenge and the AI never really tests your skill. Opponents always seem to be close behind however they never have what it takes to win. Even when making a mistake it’s not hard to get right back in the race.

GRAPHICS: The vehicles look like their real life counterparts. The Hummers can be damaged during their races—although it doesn’t always seem like an accurate representation. The tracks and scenery are bland at best.

SOUND: Nothing to mention.

FRANKLY: Hummer Badlands is too short. We were bored after about an hour of gameplay. Rent it.
